As a child Linda was always helping others and she knew from an early age that nursing was the career path for her.
Linda went to McEachern Training Centre where she obtained a Diploma in Nursing in 1988.
After graduating, she began working at the Shelburne District Hospital in 1989 as a Registered Practical Nurse. Linda has been part of the HHCC family for 31 years; working on E-Wing, Day Surgery and occasionally on D-Wing and F-Wing.
Over the years, Linda has taken many courses to ensure she remained up on current best practices and standards. Recently, she completed the Advanced Palliative Care Course.
When asked what her favorite memory at HHCC was, Linda was reminded of when staff took inpatients outside to watch the Shelburne Fiddleville Parade (some even in their beds).
“The experiences that I have had with my patients and coworkers at the start and throughout my career have molded me into the nurse I am today. There are so many experiences that I am grateful for,” recalled Linda.
Linda is currently a Registered Practical Nurse on E Wing, where she works alongside coworkers, she has shared most of her career with. “My team is very close knit and excels at teamwork,” she remarked.
The team was certainly tested this year with the onset of the COVID-19 pandemic.
“Just when you think after 31 plus years of nursing you’ve seen it all (including SARS), you are met with COVID-19. This pandemic has certainly challenged us all. I am proud of the work we are doing here. It is hard work, but it is rewarding,” she added.
In her spare time Linda enjoys reading, gardening and spending time with family.
Thank you, Linda, for caring for our community with such devotion and passion.
