Orangeville, Ont. (July 17, 2024) - Headwaters Health Care Centre’s renovation and replacement of one of its x-ray rooms and equipment will improve one of the most needed and highest volume areas within the Diagnostic Imaging department.
The x-ray room renovation spans from ceiling to floor, and contains new replacement equipment, the DRX-Evolution Plus system, which is manufactured by Carestream.
Emergency patients will now be supported by AI software and enhanced image quality that helps emergency physicians identify patient diagnoses with greater accuracy and speed.
Pediatric patients will receive more precise imaging from a smaller detector size, resulting in greater diagnostic precision and adjustable components to accommodate small children.
The renovated room provides greater patient comfort during exams with a wireless detector that is now positioned more easily around patients, and a wall stand that simplifies patient positioning and makes it easier to image many different parts of your body. A high weight capacity table will support a wider range of patient needs as well.
Patient access to innovative equipment closer to home would not be possible without the ongoing support of our generous community and partnership with Headwaters Health Care Foundation.

“We are thrilled to be unveiling a new replacement state-of-the-art x-ray machine today. This upgrade was made possible through the incredible generosity of donors supporting
Smart Headwaters, our ongoing fundraising campaign. I'm so grateful to our donors whose compassion and commitment to improving health care in our region is truly inspiring. This X-ray machine will make a real difference in the lives of thousands of individuals who will use it in the years to come.”
K.C. Carruthers, CEO, Headwaters Health Care Foundation
“Headwaters’ x-ray is one of our most popular diagnostic imaging services, and available to patients without any appointment booking. Given how frequently patients need x-rays, the ability to upgrade one of our two x-ray rooms provides a positive impact to patient care. This means higher quality patient-centred care, together with our health teams, and the ability to serve more patients in the community.
Dr. Asad Naqvi, Chief of Diagnostic Imaging and Diagnostic Radiologist
“I became a Patient and Family Advisory Partner for Headwaters’ Diagnostic Imaging team after volunteering in the department, so I’ve seen firsthand how x-ray and other diagnostic imaging services are important. I’m excited to see these equipment upgrades make patient care faster, safer, and an overall better experience for patients like me who live in the community.”
Sharon Savini, Patient and Family Advisory Partner
