It is with great sadness that we learned of the recent passing of Sue Fletcher, former President of the Headwaters Health Care Auxiliary and Headwaters Health Care Foundation board member. Sue was an avid volunteer at our hospital and elsewhere in the community in the arts and in business.
Sue was a long-time volunteer in our Emergency Department before taking on the role of the Hospital Auxiliary for nearly two years. In that time, she was able to use her business acumen to lead the work on completing the necessary actions to allow the Auxiliary to work towards becoming incorporated. Under her leadership, the Auxiliary also contributed $250,000 to ensure the hospital was able to rebuild its main staircase as part of recent major hospital renovations.
Sue loved interacting with people and making a difference and often went out of her way to help patients and families in our Emergency Department. She was a person full of ideas and a love of life. Sue’s energy was palpable.
After retiring from her volunteer role as Auxiliary President, Sue could still be found volunteering at the hospital until she relocated to Toronto.
Mike Carter, current Auxiliary President considered Sue a friend and mentor. “She knew what needed to be done and did an excellent job modernizing the Auxiliary,” he said. “Sue was a compassionate person and will truly be missed.”
We offer our condolences to Sue’s family, friends, fellow volunteers and all who knew her.
