September 27, 2024 (Orangeville, ON) - After years of preparation, advocacy, community engagement, fundraising and recent confirmation of provincial operational funding, Headwaters Health Care Centre proudly begins construction for the first Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) in Dufferin-Caledon region.

With approximately 4,000 annual scans currently referred to other facilities for MRI, Headwaters’ MRI will meet a significant demand to bring this critical diagnostic imaging service closer to home. When the construction is complete, health care providers can refer patients over the age of 8 to Headwaters for the following services:

  • Abdominal / Pelvic MRI

  • Brain and spine MRI

  • Breast MRI

  • Musculoskeletal MRI

Headwaters’ first MRI scan is anticipated to occur in Spring 2025, based upon construction progress.

We are pleased to announce Headwater’s MRI suite will be called The Morningview Foundation MRI Suite. The Morningview Foundation has been instrumental in Smart Headwaters by committing to match community donations to the campaign dollar-for-dollar up to $3 million. Through this matching gift challenge, every community donation had a greater impact, matched dollar-for-dollar in support of better health care close to home for patients and families.

The location of the new MRI will be in the Headwaters Ambulatory Care wing. It will extend into the garden path area near the Emergency Department parking bay.  The new MRI space will be connected to the hospital.

The first phase of construction will focus on the exterior of the facility focusing on excavation and site preparations to receive a pre-fabricated building. Once in place, the pre-fabricated building will connect directly to our existing Ambulatory Care wing.
