Construction Update October 25

The Joan and Paul Waechter Welcome Centre at Headwaters Health Care Centre

What happened last week (Oct 18 – Oct 25)
  • This week teams are focusing on getting the former information desk area completed so we can open that space as the temporary café.
  • Terry L. our in house plumber went onsite to install a sink that will be used for the temporary café.
  • The Orangeville Transit Bus Stop was moved to its new location outside the Ambulatory Care temporary main entrance.
  • The windows of the main lobby that face the patio were partially covered to further indicate to patients/visitors that the area is under construction and allow for a big reveal once the project is completed!
  • The temporary secondary hoarding went up outside health records and in between the physicians lounge and diabetes.
  • Our interior design firm and architects met with the millwork contractors to ensure that the millwork measurements specified are in line with the actual space identified by the architects. This is important to check during construction because once the millwork is ordered it is very expensive to change. It is also important for the millwork to be validated against any appliances that are going into a space to ensure the millwork contractor has allocated the space properly.
What To Expect
  • New hoarding in the hallway between the cafeteria and health records on the lower level.
  • Finishing the preparatory work for the temporary café.
  • Mechanical sub-contractors onsite accessing areas related to heating, cooling, ventilation systems etc.
HN Construction hours of operation
The construction crew and the sub-trades work on site 6:00am to 5:00 pm Monday through Friday.

Construction Benefits
Headwaters patients and their families will experience a new one-stop shop with respect to arrival, registration and bill payment, supported by self-service kiosks and centralized registration.

The lobby will include a new, more accessible entryway, a new information desk, expanded waiting areas, a therapeutic and fully accessible outdoor space, a re-designed gift shop and café and a new safer and more accommodating central staircase.

These renovations are being funded through donations to the Headwaters Health Care Foundation and the Headwaters Health Care Auxiliary.

The lobby and main entrance will be named The Joan and Paul Waechter Welcome Centre, in honor of local residents, Joan and Paul Waechter’s cumulative giving to Headwaters Health Care Centre.
