The Joan and Paul Waechter Welcome Centre at Headwaters Health Care Centre
What Happened last week (Sept 30-Oct 4)
This past week, ahead of schedule, HN Construction completed demolition of the café, gift shop, information desk, glass around the stairwell, jackhammering of the main entrance vestibule and the main stairwell.
We continue to improve temporary directional signage to help patients, visitors and staff navigate around the hospital while construction is underway.
The volunteer information desk has been moved to a visible area beside the former dialysis area in the Ambulatory Care Wing. Wayfinding volunteers have been scheduled when available to assist as well as support people with general questions and concerns, including parking payment. Our Headwaters Health Care Auxiliary volunteers have been flexible in responding to our needs during construction.
HN Construction hours of operation
The construction crew and the sub-trades work on site 6:00am to 5:00 pm Monday through Friday.
During demolition, HN Construction kindly moved the jackhammering and other noisy demolition activities to after 3:30pm, in consultation with hospital staff, volunteers and physicians.
Construction Benefits
Headwaters patients and their families will experience a new one-stop shop with respect to arrival, registration and bill payment, supported by self-service kiosks and centralized registration.
The lobby will include a new, more accessible entryway, a new information desk, expanded waiting areas, a therapeutic and fully accessible outdoor space, a re-designed gift shop and café and a new safer and more accommodating central staircase.
These renovations are being funded through donations to the Headwaters Health Care Foundation and the Headwaters Health Care Auxiliary.
The lobby and main entrance will be named The Joan and Paul Waechter Welcome Centre, in honor of local residents, Joan and Paul Waechter’s cumulative giving to Headwaters Health Care Centre.
