Elected Director

Dr. Paul Babyn

I was born and raised in Toronto, spending summers near Shelburne at our family cottage. For university, I obtained my undergraduate degrees from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology and a medical degree at McGill University. I then specialized in Radiology, completing my residency in Philadelphia with further Pediatric Radiology training at Sickkids in Toronto. I worked at Sick Kids for over 20 years including 12 years as department head before moving to Saskatoon to become Head of Medical Imaging at the University of Saskatchewan. I later transitioned to Physician Executive for Provincial Programs at the Saskatchewan Health Authority where I worked until my retirement in 2022. After retirement, I returned to our family home in Caledon where I reside with my wife.
 
I have served on the Boards of the International Society of Pediatric Radiology and the Royal University Hospital Foundation in Saskatoon. I have participated in numerous initiatives to improve healthcare access both here in Ontario and Saskatchewan including the expansion of magnetic resonance and PET/CT programs along with multiple organizational activities striving to reduce wait times and improve appropriateness, healthcare quality and safety more broadly.
 
I am proud to support our community on the Headwaters Health Care Centre Board of Directors.

Elected Director

Adrian Bita

I am an Accounting and Finance Professional (CPA, CGA), with over 20 years of experience in the field. I also have a Certified Fraud Examiner (CFE) designation, and Honours Bachelor of Commerce degree from Laurentian University.

I am currently the Director of Finance with Bryan’s Fuel in Orangeville. For more than 10 years before this, I enjoyed working with RJ Burnside & Associates in Orangeville, as Accounting Manager.

I am a very active member of the local community, a proud member and past President of the Rotary Club of Orangeville Highlands, and the proud recipient of the Paul Harris Fellow from Rotary.

I had the great honour of serving for over three years as a member of the Board of Directors of Central West Local Health Integration Network (CW LHIN), a provincial appointment by Lieutenant Governor in Council. I was also the Chair of the Finance Committee, and member of the Governance and Nominations committees.

I have a real passion in serving this community as much as I can. I also served as a Treasurer of Orangeville Blues & Jazz Festival, a member of the Board of Directors of Community Living Dufferin, and many other activities designed to help our local Not-For-Profit organizations and those less fortunate than ourselves.

More recently I was a member of the grant approval committee for distribution of Emergency Community Support Fund on behalf of Dufferin Community Foundation, and we were very proud for approving distribution of over $100,000 in grants for the organizations in need in our area, such as Orangeville Food Bank, Family Transition Place, Community Living Dufferin, to name a few.

Chief of Staff & Vice President of Medical Affairs

Dr. Grace Wang, MD, FRCSC

I am the Chief of Staff at Headwaters Health Care Centre, having completed Medical School and General Surgery training at McMaster University. I am a Fellow of the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada.

I joined Headwaters in 2008, and have been an active and highly committed member of the medical staff. I held the role of chief of surgery from 2016 to 2022 and have been an active physician representative on many hospital committees. My work has been integral in the expansion of the department of surgery and numerous quality improvement projects across the hospital. I am a proud and active mentor and teacher for medical students and residents and a strong supporter for teamwork, quality care, and dedication. 

My advocacy for health and wellness also extends to the community. I have been at the forefront of our health care foundation’s fundraising efforts for surgical equipment and cancer care. In 2022, I successfully organized Orangeville’s first ever CIBC Run for the Cure, raising over $10,000.

Outside of work, I can be found either at the pool or gymnastics club cheering on my three children. In my spare time I also love cooking, crafting, and travelling and I am always up for a new adventure.

Vice Chair

Jennifer Casu-Morin

I have more than 25 years of healthcare leadership experience in Canada, the United States, South Africa, and South America. I am  currently serving as Managing Director, Bayshore Home Care Solutions, one of Canada’s leading providers of home and community health care services. Previously my role was Senior Vice President, Pharmacy Operations and Transformation for Shoppers Drug Mart. I am a strong advocate for person-centric healthcare, ensuring that both the people served, and the people caring for them, are always the priority.  

In addition to profit and loss (P&L), strategic planning and operational excellence experience, I have regulatory experience working with professional colleges as well as government ministries, organizations, and agencies.
  
I was the founding lead of Shoppers Drug Marts “Able at Shoppers” resource group focused on eliminating barriers for people with disabilities. In addition I was formerly the co-lead for the MS Society’s Women Against MS (WAMS) gala for the GTA.  

I obtained a Bachelor of Science in Agriculture from McGill University and I’m currently completing an  MBA at Carleton University. 

My family and I live in rural Caledon. I feel blessed to be part of this rural community and am proud to support and represent our community on the Headwaters Health Care Centre Board of Directors.

Derek Clark

I hold an MBA from the University of Windsor and have worked in leadership roles in sales, marketing and finance with global technology organizations. After retirement from Toshiba Canada, I dedicated my time to local initiatives as the Director of Community Service for the Rotary Club of Palgrave.

I received an Order in Council appointment from the Lieutenant Governor of Ontario in 2021 and have governed at the College of Respiratory Therapists of Ontario to regulate the profession in the public interest and to implement health system strategies, a risk management plan and a college performance measurement framework developed by the Ontario Ministry of Health. I have served as the Patient Relations Chair, Registration Chair and Vice Chair of Finance and Audit during the current term.

I have also advocated for policies at federal, provincial and health system levels that improve health care delivery and patient outcomes for vulnerable populations. I currently volunteer my time with a number of health care organizations including University Health Network, the Canadian Immunocompromised Advocacy Network and the Toronto Lung Transplant Civitan Club.

I enjoy travelling, golfing and curling and have lived with my family in Palgrave for many years.

Kim Delahunt

I have worked in a variety of roles and sectors within Health Care including direct care, primary care, health system planning, acute care and long-term care to home and community care and private health care. I have also worked at the Provincial Ministry of Health and Long-Term Care. 

My formal education includes a Bachelor of Kinesiology and Masters in Science degree from McMaster University and a Masters in Health Administration from the University of Toronto. I have also completed the Advanced Health Leadership Program at the Joseph L. Rotman School of Management - University of Toronto and am a Certified Health Executive through the Canadian College of Health Leaders. More recently, I have also obtained the Chartered Director (C.Dir.) designation from The Directors College, DeGroote School of Business.

I have widespread experience in health system transformation and developing and executing strategy at an organizational and regional level. I am passionate about developing strong and collaborative stakeholder relationships and operating within complex and often ambiguous environments.  

My husband and I have two children. Rounding out our family are our two large breed dogs, called Leonbergers.

Foundation Representative

Bill Duron

William (Bill) Duron is a well-known tourism, media, and event management executive. His early career started with Tourism Toronto as Vice President of Convention Sales and after two years he was promoted to President and CEO, a position he held for 18 years. During that time, he led the tourism marketing effort which accelerated Toronto's market presence throughout the world. Bill also advanced public policy and funding for the development of major tourism events and facilities such as the highly successful Metro Toronto Convention Centre.
 
He also represented Canada's tourism industry in the Free Trade Agreement between Canada and the United States, authored a Canadian Tourism Strategy which led to the creation of the Canadian Tourism Commission, and was elected as the first non-US President of the Destination Marketing Association International.
 
Bill then went on to be Publisher of Toronto's popular and authoritative city magazine, Toronto Life, and later became President of the parent company, Key Media Ltd., owner of Where Magazines, Fashion, Quill and Quire, and Fashion File TV. After selling the company to St. Joseph Communications, Bill became independent advisor to the Company while becoming CEO of the Royal Agricultural Winter Fair and Royal Horse Show, a 10-day event that attracts 350,000 people, 6500 farm animals, and 1800 horses. Under his leadership, the Royal achieved record attendance, became the most prestigious horse show in North America and exceeded financial targets. He also purchased the Toronto Island Marina and Yacht Club on Toronto Island, a facility that provides mooring, marine services and food and beverage for 460 recreational boats. Bill then purchased Cerro Coyote, an Inn and Cooking School, in San Ramon, Costa Rica which he operates from December to April.
 
In addition to consulting assignments for organizations such as Parks Canada and the Friends of the Greenbelt Foundation, his current voluntary involvements include Incoming Chair of the RCMP Foundation and Board representation with the Canadian National Sportsmen's Shows and the Headwaters Health Care Foundation.

Vice President General Medical Staff

Dr. Shreyas Gandhi

I joined Headwaters’ surgical team as a urologist in July 2023. I completed my fellowship training in Endourology and Advanced Laparoscopy at St. Joseph's Hospital in Toronto. Prior to that, I completed my Urology residency at the University of Toronto and obtained my medical degree from McMaster University.
 
I enjoy collaborating with Headwaters’ exceptional group of clinicians and staff to provide high quality urologic care in the community. These include the work-up and management of kidney cancer, kidney stones, bladder cancer, lower urinary tract pathologies, BPH, prostate cancer, testicular cancer, as well as pediatric and adult circumcisions.
 
When not at the hospital I find great joy in traveling with my family, staying active on the tennis court, trying new restaurants, and spending quality time with my friends and family.

Dr. Marina Heidman

I have held progressive leadership roles in health care, post-secondary education and business. In my early nursing career, I worked in acute care in several hospital settings in Canada and the US. During a 16-year period at Humber College, in Toronto, I moved from faculty to other senior management roles, as Associate Dean, Health Sciences, and as Dean of Access Programs.
 
My business experience includes consulting as a Senior Principal at KPMG and at Knightsbridge/LHH. I have a strong track record as a resourceful executive coach. Partnering with senior leaders, I support their career development. Currently, I am a Senior Client Partner with Arlington Partners International, a Toronto and US based management consulting firm.
 
As an eight-year member of the Toronto General Hospital Board, I represented the City of Toronto. My community interests and contributions involve active fundraising in health and women’s issues.
 
I have a Master, Health Sciences (Healthcare Leadership: McMaster University) and a PhD in Adult Education (Michigan State University). A longstanding advocate of women’s career development, I focused my graduate research on “Midlife Executive Women’s Perception of Moving to Entrepreneurship.”
 
Owning property in Mono since 1966, I commuted to Toronto, until moving to Mono full time for the last few years. I am very pleased to have the opportunity to serve Headwaters Health Care Centre.

Melodie Mason

I retired in 2022 from a lengthy career in human resources where I worked for large multinationals in diverse industries such as consumer goods, logistic solutions, and retail pharmacy. In my last role, I was Vice President, Total Rewards for a standards development organization where my primary focus was global total rewards, specifically: compensation, group benefits, pensions, and HR systems.

My formal education includes a psychology/sociology degree from Brock University as well as several Human Resources certifications including being a Certified Human Resources Leader (CHRL).  Additionally, I am a Chartered Director from The Director’s College.

I enjoy supporting the local community by volunteering on boards, previously I was on the Bethell Hospice Board for 6 years. I am honoured to serve as a member of the Headwaters Health Care Centre Board of Directors.

I have lived in Mono for 30 years with my husband, Chris and have an adult daughter.

Nim Nadarajah

Nim is an executive with 30 years of experience in leading and managing capital investments, mergers & acquisitions, and digital transformation solutions. He helps organizations strategically align; Security, IT, business goals and generate transformative results, through an entrepreneurial spirit paired with the discipline of enterprise delivery.  
 
Throughout his career he has launched financial products, modernized customer experiences (mobile wallets, digital payments), transformed healthcare around the patient bedside experience, implemented e-commerce solutions, launched Security Operations Centers and helped many CIOs and CISO establish and execute on strategy and roadmaps. He helped launch the Shared Service Canada SOC for the government of Canada and established the IBM Canada Security practice. He has a deep security expertise paired with technology leadership experience. 
 
Nim is an active executive board member. He has served on National Board of Directors for CIO Association of Canada as their Director of Technology. Currently, elected Board of Directors member at Headwaters Health Center.  Nim is also the Chief Public Relations Officer and a board member of the Cyber Security Global Alliance. He is a member of the ICD, working towards his ICD.D designation.

Gerry Merkley

I hold a Bachelor of Commerce degree from McMaster University and have worked as a financial services executive with major global financial institutions for over 25 years. My career has centred on the wealth management sector with primary responsibilities for strategic planning, sales and marketing.

My commitment to the community includes serving as a Board Director on the Central West LHIN (Local Health Integrated Network) for six years, including the Chair of the Finance Committee, Board Chair for Hospice Caledon (now Bethell Hospice), Vice-Chair of Hospice Caledon Foundation and Chair of two Independent Review Committees for mutual fund companies. I am currently a member of the Property Standards Committee for the Town of Caledon, and a Board Director for Abbeyfield, Caledon.

I have enjoyed living in Caledon for 18 years, raising two sons with my husband Chris.

Lloyd Noronha

I am a financial executive with experience overseeing large public sector organizations.  As the current Vice-President of Finance and Administration at Wilfrid Laurier University I oversee a broad portfolio of business functions, inclusive of Finance, IT, Facilities and Asset Management, Risk Management, Student Residences, Special Constable Service and Internal Audit.

Previous senior roles have included CFO and Associate Director of Education (overseeing all business functions) for the Toronto Catholic District School Board and Deputy Treasurer for the City of Vaughan.   

I am currently the Chair of the Board, and Chair of the Investment Committee, for the Canadian University Reciprocal Insurance Exchange, which provides insurance coverage across all Canadian universities. Previous Board experience has included being a Board member and Treasurer for the Peel Leadership Centre and Member on the Toronto Student Transportation Consortium.

I am a Chartered Professional Accountant (CPA) with bachelor’s degrees from York University in both Science and Commerce.

I live in Caledon Village with my wife and children. We are often found in area attending events and activities for our children. I enjoy the outdoors and wood working.  I am very honoured to serve the community interest by contributing time and expertise to achieving the goals of Headwaters, while upholding its values.

Past Board Chair

Dr. Hugh O'Brodovich

I spent my early years on a farm in Saskatchewan and later obtained my MD and training in paediatrics and pulmonology at the University of Manitoba. After further training at Columbia University, I joined McMaster University in 1981. In 1986, I moved to SickKids where I subsequently became the Head of Respiratory Research and Division Chief of Respiratory Medicine. As the University of Toronto’s Chair of Paediatrics and SickKids’ Paediatrician-in-Chief (1996-2006), I participated in major initiatives to improve the coordination, integration and delivery of health care in Ontario, Canada, Ireland and Qatar. As Chair of Pediatrics at Stanford University and Physician in Chief at Lucile Packard Children’s Hospital Stanford (2008–2016), I participated in health care and health care reform in the USA. I have been a member of the Boards of leading children’s hospitals and national and international medical societies.

I maintained my clinical practice and research program until retiring in 2016. I am an elected Fellow of both the Canadian Academy of Health Sciences and American Association for the Advancement of Science, am a Professor Emeritus at Stanford University and live in Mono. Until 2019, I was a member of the Board of Directors of the Central West Local Health Integration Network.

John Palmer

I retired after 30 years working in various senior management positions in the corporate offices in the banking sector.  My last position was Director, Compliance and Operational Risk at the Bank of Montreal.
Since my  retirement in 2017 I have volunteered at Bethell Hospice,  the Town of Caledon's Senior Task Force and the Palgrave Rotary Club.  I am currently on the management team for the Bolton and District Probus Club and am the Vice Chair for the Bethell Hospice Board.

I hold a Master of Arts degree from the University of Toronto and a Project Management Certificate from Boston University.  My family and I are long-time residents of Caledon. We are fortunate to have our extended family also living in the area.

Craig Reynolds

I have lived in Dufferin-Caledon for most of my life, apart from two years in Japan and three years in the United States.

I worked in the plastics equipment manufacturing industry for more than 20 years, most recently as the Vice-President of Sales and Business Development for Husky Injection Molding Systems. After I left Husky, I received an appointment from Elections Canada to be the Returning Officer for Dufferin-Caledon which I held until 2021.  I currently run my own consulting service for private equity and institutional investors working in the plastics industry, supporting them with everything from deal evaluation and due diligence to portfolio value creation. 

I completed my BSc. in Biochemical Engineering from Western University in London, Ontario.

I am married with three adult children and active in the community through amateur sports organizations, youth clubs, and environmental groups.

Medical Staff President

Dr. Mercedes Rodriguez

I joined the Headwaters Family in 2015. I am originally from Venezuela, where I completed my medical degree before immigrating to Canada. I had the fortune of obtaining my Family Medicine degree from McMaster University in 2015.
 
As a physician, I have a busy family practice in town and a keen interest in palliative care, which I support in and out of hospital. I also provide services for our in-patient Chronic Complex Care and Rehab wing as well as Surgical Assist on call.
 
I am a strong believer in frontline providers and patients, joined together, to promote changes in health care. For this reason, I pursued further training with the Rotman School of Management in Toronto where I completed their Advanced Health System Leadership Program in 2016.
 
In our hospital, I am currently the Vice-President of the General Medical Staff and the Credentials Committee. Previously, I had the privilege of working as the Chief of Department of Family Practice from 2016 to 2019. During that time, our current palliative care program and hospitalist program were born, always striving to improve the care we provide for our patients.
 
In our community, I am a member of the Dufferin Area Family Health Team Board, Assistant Lead of the Highlands Family Health Organization and Lead Physician at Highlands Health Network. I am also an active participant in several working groups helping shape the future of the Hills of Headwaters Collaborative Ontario Health Team.
 
Outside of work, I live in Orangeville with my husband and a teenage son. I thoroughly enjoy cooking while listening to good music and spending time in nature.

Jenifer Terry

I grew up in Dufferin County and returned here after completing my BA and MA at Western University in Public History. I have worked at several national not-for-profits in the heritage industry, managing educational programming, curating historical content, and executing major fundraising campaigns successfully.

Currently, I am raising my young family in Grand Valley while also managing a small, locally founded digital education company, Defining Moments Canada. I lead a small team of dedicated and talented individuals to execute simultaneous national commemorative projects which use major milestones in Canadian history to highlight lesser-known stories and perspectives in an engaging and accessible manner, supported by educational tool kits.

I am proud to represent my community on the Headwaters Health Care Centre Board of Directors.
