A Holiday Message to the Community from the CEO and President of Headwaters Health Care Centre

As we close out an exceptionally busy – and exciting – year for Headwaters Health Care Centre, I reflect on the many milestones and achievements that have helped us better serve our community. This year, we launched multiple programs, renovations, and plans, demonstrating our commitment to growing and changing with the community and achieving our purpose of providing excellent care close to home for the residents of Dufferin-Caledon.  

Earlier this year, we proudly unveiled our 2024-2029 Strategic Plan, and you, our community, were instrumental in shaping our vision for the future. Thank you to the hundreds of community members who provided their feedback to address the evolving healthcare needs of Dufferin-Caledon. Your input has been invaluable in guiding our direction.  

We have reached some major milestones this year that I am incredibly proud of. In October, we proudly unveiled our new hemodialysis unit, which offers improved comfort and efficiency, accommodating up to nine patients at a time. This bright, spacious unit provides a more accessible and welcoming space for patients and families.  

Additionally, we broke ground on the first magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) suite in Dufferin-Caledon, which is expected to open in the spring of 2025. Thanks to more than $15 million donated through the Smart Headwaters Campaign, the new service will allow residents to receive critical services closer to home. The Campaign is also supporting many other new pieces of equipment and upgrades around the hospital. 

In November, we announced that Headwaters Health Care Centre’s current emergency and diagnostic imaging departments will be renovated and expanded to increase patient capacity and ensure the hospital is better equipped to deliver state-of-the-art care for patients and their families. 

I want you to know that the team at Headwaters is here for you and will continue to grow alongside you, our community, as we achieve our vision of being one community, caring together.  

As we bid farewell to 2024 and welcome in a new year, I wish you all a season filled with family, friendship, good health, and the strength of community.
