The opportunity to become a Patient and Family Advisor resonates with my desire to advocate for the voices of patients and families within the healthcare system.
As an aspiring physician I hope to be part of the changemakers dismantling racial and ethnic barriers in healthcare by addressing disparities and improving patient outcomes for marginalized communities.
The Patient and Family Advisor position is an invaluable opportunity for me to contribute to this mission by promoting respectful and effective partnerships between patients, families, and the healthcare team and work towards a more equitable healthcare system for all.
About our Patient and Family Partners
I chose to volunteer for the PFAP team because I knew that my background in nursing and my firsthand experiences could offer valuable insights and ideas. I believed that my unique perspective could contribute to the team's goals and objectives.
I have a lot of knowledge, from personal experience, as to the needs of patients and the doctors and nurses who care for them. I really want to help by being a part of PFAP at our wonderful hospital here in Orangeville.
After my twin daughters received ongoing paediatric care, both in the hospital and in outpatient care, Headwaters has been a constant provider of care close to home for our family. Being a first-time mom to twins with a complex medical history, I would love to do anything possible to help bridge any gaps between families and our hospital. As a Patient and Family Advisory Partner, I hope to help make every visit as smooth and productive as possible.
I joined the Patient Family Advisory Partnership after expressing concerns about accessibility at the hospital. I am happy I was invited to become part of this committee. My family and I are lifelong members of the community. Over the years, we have needed the hospital services many times. I hope that I can give back and make positive contributions to always improving quality of care here at Headwaters.
I became a member of the Patient and Family Advisory Program as I want to have a voice in patient care. My family and I have been here for many years using the hospital for emergency visits, surgery and other appointments as necessary.
As we are aging, I felt it was important to become involved with our local community hospital.
Becoming a Patient and Family Advisor has given me a great opportunity to give back to our community, while representing people of colour within our community. I believe my life experiences and passion for customer service will contribute to the ongoing growth and success of the patient experience at Headwaters Health Care Centre.
As a dedicated father of two young children, I joined the Patient & Family Advisory Partnership with a goal to improve access to high-quality healthcare within our community, particularly in the field of paediatrics.
Leveraging my expertise in change management, customer experience, and technology planning, I am committed to optimizing processes and discovering innovative solutions that will elevate the healthcare experience for residents of Dufferin County. Together, we can make a lasting difference in our community’s healthcare landscape.
My interest to become a member of the Patient and Family Advisory Partnership originated as a result of my daughter’s emergency department experiences.
Many hours of medical personnel interaction and observation ignited my decision to communicate our experiences.
I am a Patient Family Advisor because I want to do better for my family and for my community. My daughter had a difficult experience at Headwaters and I believe with some time and work, we can learn and improve from this experience together to make Headwaters the hospital our community deserves.
I joined the patient family advisory partnership while I was receiving dialysis at Headwaters. The experience I had throughout my health journey was such a positive one. After I received my transplant, I felt compelled to give something back to the place that treated me so well.
I Joined PFAP because I want to give back to my community and gain hands-on experience in a hospital and workplace as working in a hospital is my future pathway.
I am excited to contribute as Patient and Family Advisor Partner, as I believe I can bring a perspective to the team, and hospital, that will go a long way towards everyone feeling understood and comfortable.
As a non-speaking autistic with other complex medical issues, I have spent a lot of time in various medical appointments, ERs, and procedures. I think the knowledge I have gained, as well as my as-lived experiences, will help forward my wish to give the neurodiverse and sensitive population a sensory safe environment where they can receive great medical care.
Thank you for the opportunity to give back to my community in a meaningful and concrete way.
As a veterinarian who has lived in the Headwaters area for more than 30 years, I hope I can contribute to the advisory group in my role as a Patient and Family Partner.
