All doors are the right doors when you are seeking support as a survivor of sexual or intimate partner violence. This means you will be supported to access the services you need, no matter which community partner you first speak to.

The Sunrise Centre

As part of the Ontario Network of Sexual Assault/Domestic Violence Treatment Centres, the Sunrise Centre supports survivors of sexual assault or intimate partner violence. Our program provides trauma- and violence-informed care that is timely, confidential and works with the individual in their personal journey.

You can access our program through our emergency department or through our partnerships with Family Transition Place, Dufferin Child and Family Services, Caledon Dufferin Victim Services and the Ontario Provincial Police. As a community, we are all dedicated to supporting you, in the way that you need. 

What to expect

If you access the Sunrise Centre through our hospital's emergency department, you will be supported by our team of health professionals, including Forensic Nurse Examiners who are trained to support your health-related needs, as well as the optional collection of forensic evidence.

Respect for your choice

All care, including forensic evidence collection, is your choice. Your choice will always be respected and supported. You can choose to access all the care and support, or you can choose to only access some of them. All of this will be explained in detail during your Sunrise Centre visit. You can change your mind at any point, and we will support your decision.
