President & CEO National Volunteer Week Message April 2023

This week, as we celebrate National Volunteer Week, please view my video message as I take a moment to reflect on the impact our volunteers have made and continue to make. Their tireless efforts, their boundless energy, and their unwavering commitment have inspired us all. Whether they have been volunteering with us for years or have recently joined us, their contributions have not gone unnoticed. Their commitment to giving back is invaluable and truly makes a difference.

  • Board of Directors – Thank you for providing strategic governance oversight and support to our hospital.

  • Friendship Gardens – Thank you for ensuring each patient can enjoy a view of the gardens from their room or has the ability to enjoy resting in one of the many benches and gardens outside. Staff and visitors can also enjoy these healing spaces.

  • Headwaters Health Care Auxiliary – Thank you for supporting many of our hospital programs and services, as well as giving back through the Pulse Café and Gift Shop or Seconds Count Thrift Shop applaud you for raising $1.3 million since Seconds Count was established, in addition to so many other Auxiliary activities to purchase medical equipment and support hospital capital projects.

  • Patient and Family Advisory Program – Thank you for advising and being involved in many of our programs and services through your lived experiences.

  • Spiritual Care – Thank you for supporting the needs of our patients, families, caregivers, and staff when and where they need it most with non-denominational support reflecting the diversity in our community.

  • Telecheck – Thank you for supporting more than 240 clients age 50+ in their own homes, by giving them a lifeline through offering daily phone check ins and medication reminders. Those conversations are so important.

It is through our volunteers’ passion and hard work that we are able to achieve our goals and make a positive impact on the lives of people in our community. Their generosity of time and spirit is a testament to the power of volunteerism and the human capacity for kindness and compassion.

We encourage others to join and spread the word about how great it is to give back to your local community hospital. You can find out more on our website.

From the bottom of my heart, and on behalf of Headwaters, I want to say thank you to our volunteers. Thank you for your time, your talents, and your unwavering dedication to our patients, families, and caregivers. We are honoured to have you as part of our team.
