Media release: Headwaters Health Care Centre releases its 2023 – 2028 Clinical Priority Plan to meet growing community needs through clinical services and programs

Orangeville, Ont. (April 24, 2023) – Headwaters’ 2023-2028 Clinical Priority Plan (CPP) identifies where our hospital needs to grow and defines how we will continue to improve care. The CPP is a critical road map to strengthen and enhance the clinical programs and services at Headwaters. Over the next five years, the CPP will focus on our commitment to safe, quality patient-centered care, together with our community.
To identify the priorities, we heard from more than 1,000 staff, physicians, patients, volunteers, and community members. Our engagement included a survey, a review of program data, service volumes, performance, future trends, and projected population growth.

All of our clinical programs will have a focus on these four areas, otherwise known as the Quadruple Aim, in their day-to-day care delivery, future planning, and decision making.
  1. Improving patient experience
  2. Enhancing population health
  3. Maximizing resources and improving efficiencies
  4. Optimizing care team well-being
There are five specific clinical priorities that reflect the most urgent needs and populations poised for growth; listed in alphabetical order.
  1. Emergency Services
  2. Geriatrics
  3. Mental Health and Substance Use
  4. Obstetrics
  5. Paediatrics
Planning is underway to take specific actions for these clinical priority areas. Learn more about our future by reading the 2023 – 2028 Clinical Priority Plan.

“We heard from our community which programs and services are in highest need: emergency services, geriatrics, mental health and substance use, obstetrics and pediatrics.  Our teams are committed to expanding and improving these services.
