Emergency Medicine Physician
The Division of Emergency Medicine at Headwaters Healthcare Centre is looking to add additional Emergency Medicine physicians. Our emergency physician group sees over 40,000 cases annually. Our physicians benefit from the 24-hour support from our colleagues in general surgery, internal medicine, anesthesia, pediatrics, and obstetrics, as well as subspecialists in ENT, orthopedics, plastic surgery, ophthalmology and urology. There is 24/7 respiratory therapy support.

Physicians have access within ER to 2 POC ultrasound machines with transesophageal and endocavitary capabilities. State of the art diagnostic imaging equipment includes a 64 multi-slice CT scanner. Anticipated for January 2025 is an MRI machine.

Headwaters Heath Care Centre is a community-based hospital operating as an acute and complex continuing care facility which offer both inpatient and outpatient services. Our Emergency Department provides 24/7 coverage. We have 86 acute care beds and a level two ICU supporting a catchment area of over 100,000. With over 800 staff and 160 physicians, the hospital is accredited with Exemplary Standing by Accreditation Canada.

We are located in beautiful Orangeville, Ontario. Our charming small town offers great opportunities for outdoor recreation like skiing, golf and hiking and many thriving shops and restaurants. Conveniently located one hour from downtown Toronto or Collingwood.

Our emergency physician group receives competitive renumeration based on our AFA and the ability to participate in HOCC.

We are looking for CCFP physicians with some ER experience (but will consider recent grads with ER training experience or interest) or CCFP-EM.

Applicants must be current with ACLS, ATLS and PALS certifications and be eligible for independent licensure in Ontario. Great opportunity for new grads in a well-supported environment.

Chief of Emergency Medicine
Headwaters Health Care Centre is searching for an experienced, quality driven Chief of Emergency Medicine to lead a dynamic team of physicians and a high-functioning Emergency Department (ED).
 
The ED Chief is an inspiring and motivated leader who will spearhead and drive HHCC’s ongoing efforts to improve patient experience and flow through both the department, and hospital as a whole.  The ED Chief must also be able to engage with various stakeholders thoughtfully and strategically throughout the hospital, including front line staff, physicians, and executive leadership, while supporting a high-performing ED through new initiatives, and quality improvement.
 
In this role, the ED Chief is required to commit to one-day per week for administrative functions, while also working as an engaged and collaborative member of the physician team with a minimum of four ED shifts per month.  As the leader of the ED, the Chief will also represent their staff by serving as a member of the Medical Advisory Committee, Clinical Leadership Team, and Emergency Department Quality & Practice Committee.  Other administrative duties include chairing departmental physician meetings, scheduling, and involvement in performance evaluation. Administrative support will be provided.
 
Qualifications:
  • Minimum 5 years Emergency Department experience.  No EM year is required.
  • Exceptional communication skills.
  • Ability to lead through change.
  • Prior leadership experience.
Remuneration is competitive and reflective of the responsibilities within the department.  Financial support for CME will also be provided with opportunities for further leadership development.

General Consultant Pediatrician
Positions available: Full time or part time, permanent or locum/temporary.

As a pediatrician at Headwaters Health Care Centre, you would be joining our group of 2 full-time and 5 part-time pediatricians, providing inpatient and outpatient care to infants and children. Our existing pediatricians are happy to offer mentorship or to supervise a Canadian-trained new graduate. We are a very collegial group who help one another professionally and in managing a healthy work-life balance.

The hospital-based component of this position entails managing the Level-1 nursery and the inpatient pediatrics ward, attending high risk deliveries, and offering consultations to the Emergency Room. Outpatient consultant work encompasses the full breadth of general pediatrics. We also offer a newborn clinic, an urgent consult clinic, as well as a diabetes program. There are additional opportunities to do regional satellite clinics.

Our hospital is well supported with William Osler Health System being only 30 minutes away and Sick Kids only 60 minutes away. The professional environment at Headwaters Health Care Centre is exceptionally welcoming and supportive.

There is generous compensation by an Alternate Payment Plan that entails a base salary, plus a percentage of billings, HOCC, pediatric stabilization funding and critical mass stipend.

General Internal Medicine
  • Full-time hospital and community based
  • Part-time locum hospital based
Permanent position, as well as part time locum positions, available in Orangeville for General Internal Medicine.  We are a group of six General Internal Medicine specialists supporting a catchment area of 100,000, at a hospital with 75 beds.

As an internist at Headwaters, you will be participating in a one in six call rotation, doing emergency room consults, admissions, and ward work.  You will cover a Level-two 4 bed ICU, with roughly 40 ventilator patients per year.  Call is from home with expectation of availability at the hospital within 20 minutes of telephone contact.  We have onsite hospitalist program, nephrology with dialysis, diabetic care, and visiting oncology specialists.  We have excellent relationships with referring centers for intensive care, stroke, and cardiology.
 
We do our own outpatient stress, nuclear stress, and pulmonary function tests.  We also perform a wide range of bedside procedures.  There is office space for lease within close proximity to the hospital.
 
Our community practices are ever growing and we are looking for assistance in supporting the general medical outpatient referrals and follow-ups.  There are over 60 local family doctors, four general surgeons, four obstetricians, two plastic surgeons, and subspecialty surgeons in ENT, Orthopedics, Ophthalmology, and Urology.  We welcome general internists and those with specific sub-specialty interests to apply.

Obstetrician and Gynecologist
Headwaters Health Care Centre in Orangeville, Ontario, is inviting applications for a Locum Tenens Royal College-certified Obstetrician and Gynecologist to cover call for both weekdays and weekends when needed.

The successful candidate would be expected to provide on-call coverage to the hospital and reside within 15 minutes of the hospital during the days of coverage.

Psychiatrist
Headwaters Health Care Centre is inviting applications for a permanent, full-time Psychiatrist to join the Department of Medicine and develop a mental health program.  Headwaters is a non-schedule 1 facility and is highly committed to providing psychiatric and mental health services to the growing community of Orangeville and its surrounding areas. 

The successful candidate would be expected to consult and help manage patients in the acute hospital setting, working in collaboration with our mental health crisis worker.  Alongside hospital work, the candidate would also be expected to care for patients in a community-based practice to support population needs.
